When we lay down our heads
The skies above we perceived
We bowed our heads and prayed
Psalms too sweet we received
For all we had had been consumed by nature
Our heart rejoices for the songs yet unsung
Our people rejoice for the liberation yet to be unveiled
Sitting afar off, I realized how obscured hope was from us
But now, now I can see, and so do the people
Drumming and dancing shall fill our courts once more
Food, wine, and abundance shall be our portion once more
The streets shall be filled with the cries and screams of our children once more
Our mothers shall go out to the markets to buy and sell once more
Haiti, we shall be strong, we will emerge victors from all our misfortunes.
